It is a priority of the African Esports Cup to ensure inclusivity, diversity, and equality by catering for the following categories:

The overall format of the tournament will be Hybrid: Online & Offline
Phases/Stages of the event
The event will be conducted in three phases/stages:
Phase 1
The National phase will be the first phase. During this phase, all the
participants within a country will compete on an online basis against each other. The
winners of each title and category will proceed to the next phase. This phase will assist to identify the best players within a respective Country. The period
scheduled for the completion of phase 1: 4-12 May 2024.
Phase 2
The Regional/Zonal phase will be the second phase. For this event, the continent of
Africa was divided into 5 regions/zonal sectors, namely: North, East, South, West,
and Central (as indicated and established by the United Nations).
North African Nations:
Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, South Sudan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Western Sahara.
East African Nations:
Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius,
Mayotte, Mozambique, Reunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda,
Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
South African Nations:
Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa.
West African Nations:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone,
Soa Tome & Principe, and Togo.
Central African Nations:
Angola, Cameroon, CAR, Chad, Congo, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon.
The respective winners of each country will compete against the winners of the other
countries based within the same region/zonal sector. This will be done online. The
Regional/Zonal winners from the 5 regional areas will progress to the third and final
phase. The period scheduled for the completion of phase 2: 17-20 May 2024.
Phase 3
The Grand Finale will be the third and final phase. This phase will
take place in Abuja, Nigeria. The Best of the Best will face-off in an offline battle to level the playing field and determine the real champion of the event. This will be the ultimate Path to Glory. The period scheduled for the completion
of phase 3: 3-9 June 2024.
Method of play
Both the Swiss and Round Robin systems will apply and form part of the mechanical make-up of the African Esports Cup event.
